A U. S. Customs and Border Protection agent has pleaded guilty to illegally intercepting shipments of counterfeit Viagra and Cialis at a popular Mexican pharmacy.
The CBP agent, John Cauz, admitted to illegally entering the pharmacy after receiving a package addressed to a cashier, but he was arrested at the pharmacy after returning the package to him.
“The pharmacy did not have the drug package in its possession,” Customs agents said in a statement.
The CBP agent admitted to illegally intercepting at least 20 packages of counterfeit Viagra and Cialis and distributing them to customers in the United States, which can be illegal in all but name-brand pharmacies.
In addition, he and the agents are working with a website he created, called BuyPharma.com, which allows customers to purchase counterfeit goods from the site.
According to the CBP agent’s statement, the website uses a “reliable pharmacy” and “secure payment gateway.” The CBP agent admitted to illegally intercepting at least 16 packages of counterfeit Viagra and Cialis and distributing them to customers in the United States, which can be illegal in all but name-brand pharmacies.
The package addressed to Cauz’s pharmacy contained a large quantity of counterfeit Viagra, a medication used to treat erectile dysfunction, and a bottle of Viagra for sale in Mexico.
When CBP agents searched the premises, they found over 30,000 counterfeit Viagra pills, including hundreds of counterfeit Cialis pills, over the counter, and over the counter, and the seized goods.
According to CBP agent John McFarland, who helped conduct the investigation, the CBP agents found some of the drugs at the pharmacy.
